In 2008 we began taking off about 2 months every winter, from late November to late January with a focus on the warmer climates of the Southern Hemisphere.  From 2008 to 2013 we rode 2-up (together) on a KTM 950 Adventure through 18 countries in South America and Africa. 2014 we backpacked through Sri Lanka, India, and Nepal.  Then in 2015 we bought a Land Rover Td5 Defender 130 in Cape Town, kitted it out for safari/overland travel, and completed the famous Cape to Cairo route over 3 years.  Most recently we spent a few months in west Africa.  The future includes driving east towards Dushanbe in Tajikistan.

1999-2003  [RED]: We rode 2 motorcycles through 50 countries on 6 continents. Oh, and we unknowingly nearly doubled a Guinness World Record along the way.  See more at www.UltimateJourney.com

2008-2014  [BLUE]: We purchased a KTM 950 Adventure and began taking 2 months off every winter for travel.  At the end of each trip, we'd find a place to park it until we returned 10 months later.  In 2014 we sold the bike in Colombia, and 3 owners later a guy from Lafayette, Colorado bought it and he drove it back!

2015-2018  [YELLOW]: Ready for something different, we purchased our 2006 Land Rover Defender in Cape Town, South Africa and kitted it for safari.  First we did the Cape to Cairo run, followed by a West Africa loop.

2019  [GREEN]: After converting the Defender to a camper, travel through Europe for the spring-fall, then rent a flat in Spain/Portugal for the winter to see what that's like.
2020. [WHITE]:  At this point, we're considering a trip along the Silk Road trail.
